I was thrilled to bits when I was introduced to this website. Fudge the Elf was part of my childhood and I have such happy memories of reading those stories. My favourite by far is his Trip to the Moon. I remember the Christmas morning that I found that album in my pillowcase. I was fascinated by that story and those wonderful futuristic pictures. I am so lucky as I have a copy of that album today. I sit now reading it to my grandchildren. They are mainly into Peppa Pig and Thomas the Tank Engine, but they love to look at the pictures of Fudge and hear the stories. I agree with Les Speakman that Ken Reid should be recognised as one of the all time greats. His wonderful little creation is remembered with affection by so many of us.

In the 1950's I lived 'just up the road' from Ken, my elder brother had 4 of his books Bubble Ville, Toffee town, trip to the Moon and Dragon so from an early age I was delighted and thrilled with Fudge and Speck adventures. The Glum Glum bird and Claude Clank Mrs Pinchum etc. My brother still has his books.Other than these and the Manchester Evening News, I had know idea of other books. Then I saw a copy of Frolics in 1963 in a school library and was delighted to realise there were more. the Adventures, Dilly the Duckling and the Detective yet to read. It has taken me 47 years of hunting and bargaining to at last complete the collection.just this month and what a treasure!! His work along with his contribution to children's comics should be recognised in the same light as Potter and Barry. Good hunting if you are looking for copies or as Fudge would say "Where there's a will there's a way" (back piece Fudge and the Dragon") Les

My mother loved Fudge in Toffee Town when she was a child, and so did I as a child, hopefully when I have children they will love it as much as we did.

Our family is now experiencing the fourth generational pleasure from Fudge the Elf. In the early 50's our mother would cut out the comic strips from the Manchester Evening News, paste them in a book and read the stories to us when we lived in Wythenshawe. We all loved Golliponda and the Glum Glum Bird. I moved to the US in 1979 and my brother sent me a copy of Fudge in Bubbleville and Fudge and the Dragon which I would read to my daughters. Now I have grandchildren who are enjoying the adventures of the elves. I wish all the stories would be reprinted so this fourth generation, and those going forward, could enjoy these timeless stories.
