I followed Fudge regularly as a young kid, and was fascinated by some of the places he got, such as below a lake, or in the land of Nowhere. One time I was in a children's rest home in Southport and my mum sent me cut out Fudge strips so I could keep up. A kid snatched the strip I was reading, shoved it in his mouth and started chewing it. I was shocked and tried to get it back, then hit him, he yelled and I got in trouble. I was sure glad to get out of that place and back home where our Manchester Evening News clunked through the letter box each evening and nobody could stop me reading Fudge.

I remember reading Fudge in toffee Town in the 50's. My vivd memories were of a character called Klaude Klank. Klaude was a robot butler to the owner of (was it Tankerton Manor??). Fudge responded to an advertisement for the finder of the Robots heart, which looked like an orange peal cut into the shape of a heart. Apparently the heart worked. The most memorable picture in the book for me was when Fudge was picked up by winged creatures coloured like humbugs. I am sure more would come back to me if i could see some more prints. Sorry, I don't have any books. Tony

As a young lad growing up in the 1940's Fudge the Elf was certainly my daily treat when my dad brought home the Manchester Evening News. I spent many happy hours compiling a ledger book of Fudge, cutting out the strips from the newspaper. I still have this book. Very pleased indeed to have found this website. I will contact you again.

A great site dedicated to perhaps the best British humour comic artist we will ever see.
